An IoT Farming Technology Workshop

Our JFI system didn’t build itself out of nowhere. One of the sessions that shaped it was an IoT Farming Technology Workshop at the Alumni Lounge, led by Dr. Mohd Shahrin Abu Hanifah from the Kulliyyah of Engineering, IIUM.
The session introduced how the Internet of Things is reshaping modern agriculture: smart monitoring, precision farming, and the kind of data-driven decision-making that helps a small plot like ours run more efficiently and sustainably. Beyond the technology itself, Dr. Shahrin was clear that smart farming only works with thoughtful system planning and real collaboration between the tech side and the agriculture side, not just hardware bolted onto a grow bed.
It was a genuinely useful session for us practically, not just academically. Jauhar Farming Intelligence, the sensor and pump-control system now running on our beds, draws directly on ideas first discussed here.
Thank you to Dr. Shahrin for sharing his knowledge and for the reminder that good technology in farming starts with good planning, not just good equipment.
